The young man is very miserable and lonely. He is a adventurous man, he affected the stories plot because he was so disappointed that he didn't feel the joy that eh thought he was going to feel. the horse affected the story because he was a dark character, he was evil and very demonic like.
the author talks his past chasing after him and taunting for no reasons. The story ends after the horse disappears and the man enters the shed with a sudden realization of the fact that everything looks the same as twelve years ago. The man wonders, if the incident with horse had actually happened..
After twelve years, the young man has came back to the region he knew growing up. He is disappointed because he expected to feel something but he feels nothing. He tried to avoid the farm as he trudges through the storm. Another conflict would be man vs. the supernatural. This horse chases the man. He watches him. He attacks with intent.
he runs towards the shelter, he finally felt safe until he saw the horse in the woods. He threw stones at the horse , he hits the horse and sees obviously that it had hurt the horse. the man felt pity as the horse ran away, he then decides to continue walking like a normal traveler.
The main theme that Ted Hughes uses for "The Rain Horse" is Man vs. Nature. My personal reaction is kind of confused because i don't really know if it was his imagination or real
