  • "No. He had a deformity in his legs, and he'd walk weird. That's why people would bully and call him Tourteau.
  • "Did I ever tell you about how a boy like Auggie saved my life in the war from the Nazis?"
  • "He had a deformed face like Auggie?"
  • He helped me get away from the Nazi soldiers in my school.
  • "Come on, this way"
  • His parents let me stay in their barn for about four-teen years. 
  • "She doesn't have a family and she needs to hide." 
  • He would hide me if the soldiers came to his farm

  • "There's no Jewish here in this farm"
  • But sadly the soldiers took all the disfigured children they could find, including Tourteau. 
  • "This way to the gas chambers"
  • "Dad and I were named after him!"
  • "Do you know what his actual name was?"
  • "His name was Julian."
