Storyboard Text
Hey Lily, can you help me with my science homework? I have a worksheet about calcium.
Of course! Lets go to a classroom to start the worksheet.
The first question on my worksheet is, what is calcium?
Calcium is a mineral, more specifically a major mineral. Meaning that we need more then 100mg of it per day.
The next question is, where is it found?
The best sources of calcium are in dairy products (cheese, milk), however it can also be found in dark leafy vegetables.
The third question is, what does it do for the body?
Calcium helps build and maintain strong bones and teeth. Your heart, muscles and nerves also need caalcium to function properly.
The final question is, why is it important?
Calcium is important because if you dont get enough, your body starts to take calcium from your bones. This is called losing bone mass.
Oh no! That sounds bad.
Yes, it is bad, losing bone mass makes the inside of your bones weak and porus, This puts you at risk for osteroporosis, a bone disease.
