  • There once lived a semi-barbaric king. When a subject was accused of a crime, his fate would be decided in this king's arena. The subject would face two doors. Behind the 1st: a lady. Behind the 2nd: a tiger. This king also had a daughter with a soul as fervent and imperious as his own. She was the apple of his eye, and was loved by him above all humanity.
  • Climax
  • It's for the best...
  • A warning, for anyone who loves my daughter, without my consent!
  • The princess was in love with one of the king's subjects. He was very brave and handsome, and she loved him very much. This love affair carried on for many months, until....
  • Falling Action
  • One day, the king happened to discover them. He did not wait to take care of the situation. The boy was immediately cast into prison, and a day was set for his trial in the king's arena. This, was an important occasion, and the king, and all the people, was greatly interested. Never before had a subject dared to love the daughter of the king.
  • Resolution
  • Later, her lover was greeted in the arena with a low hum of awe. He turned, and bowed to the king. His eyes were on the princess, who was next to her father. From the moment she knew her lover should decide his fate in the king's arena, she had thought of nothing else. She raised her right hand, and made a quick movement to the right. No one but her lover saw her.
  • He turned, and with a firm and rapid step he walked across the empty space. Every heart stopped beating, every breath was held, every eye was fixed immovably upon that man. Without the slightest hesitation, he went to the door on the right, and opened it.
  • In an instant, he was there, in the next he wasn't. She knew she would never see him again, but she knew it was for the best. Her jealousy had gotten the best of her. The tiger overcame her lover.
