CRISPR was developed at the University of California in 2012. CRISPR is a gene editing technique that lets scientists to cut out a piece of dna from any organizm. This costs as little as $30. CRISPR offers great promise. It can possibly cure hereditary diseases.

CRISPR can be used to edit genes on the human germ line so they are passed down through generations which permanently change the human genes. The technique was inspired from how a certain type of bacteria develops gene-editing mechanism that helps you against viruses. CRISPR is already used to protect crops against killer fungi.
