- I can't believe that car ran us off the road, and that Dad died. What are we going to do? How are we going to tell Navin?
- We're going to be OK, Emily.
- This is your Great Grandfather's house. His name was Silas. This feels like a great place for a fresh start.
- I wish we weren't in the middle of nowhere.
- It will be great, Emily. It will be an adventure.
- Navin, look what I found! It's an amulet. It was in a secret drawer. I'm going to wear it, but let's not tell mom that I found it yet.
- Cool necklace, Emily. I wonder why it was hidden?
- Emily, her mom, and her Dad were driving to pick up her brother, Navin from the arcade. They got into an accident, and Emily's Dad died.
- We have to save her!
- What are we going to do?
- Emily and Navin, it has me. RUN!!!
- After their Dad died, Emily and her younger brother, Navin moved into into their Great Grandfather's house with their Mom. Their Great Grandfather had disappeared a long time ago. Emily's Mom decided they should move here to have a fresh start.
- I'm Cogsley, the other robot is Morrie, and the rabbit's name is Miskit. We will help you.
- We need to get our mother back!
- I'm your Great Grandfather, Silas. I've been waiting a long time to meet you. You are the new keeper of the Amulet. The Amulet and my friends will help you save your mother.
- What do we do?
- While Emily was cleaning her Great Grandfather's library, she found a secret drawer. Inside the drawer was an amulet. She showed her brother, Navin, and they decided to keep it a secret from their mother for now. Emily put on the necklace.
- We will go to Kanalis and find a cure for our mother!
- That night, Emily and her family heard noises in the basement. They went to find out what it was and discovered a portal to another world. There was a creature waiting for them and it took Emily's mother through the portal. The amulet spoke to Emily and told her and Navin to go through the portal and that they could save their mother.
- Go through the portal. I can help you save your mother.
- When they went through the portal, the Amulet led them to their Great Grandfather, Silas. He was very old and sick and was waiting for them. He told Emily that he chose her to be the next keeper of the Amulet. Silas introduced them to the different creatures that were his friends. Silas told them that the Amulet and his friends would help them save their mother. Then Silas died.
- With the help of the Amulet, and their Great Grandfather's friends, Emily and Navin rescued their mother from the monster. Their mother was very sick and would not wake up because she was poisoned. In order to find a cure, they would have to travel to the nearest city, which was called Kanalis. Their Great Grandfather's house turned into a big robot. The book ends with them travelling inside the robot house going to Kanalis.
