we need a great plan!!!
lets choke and suffocate the south!!!
good idea! then we can go capture them
Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the U.S. who opposed the expansion fo slavery very strongly. He was the political leader for the North and led the Union through the Civil War.
There were 4 Military leaders for the North. The two main leaders were Ulysses S. Grant and William T. Sherman. The leaders were very smart and came up with great plans to lead there side to success.
The strategy they had was called "The Anaconda Plan" this was suggested by Winfield Scott so they could slowly "choke and suffocate the south". There plan was to blockade the southern trade then the army would divide and capture vital cities.
One advantage they had was the amount of people they had. There population was 22 million. This was an advantage because of the army raising and they had more support in war efforts from everyone else.
Another advantage they had was transportation. They had most of the major railroad lines which helps alot in the end.
The final advantage they had was industrial. 90% of the nations factories which meant they had more clothes boots and most importantly weapons.
