In 1599, The East India Company was founded in England and later on began to build trading warehouses in India
During this period, India was not a united country. Each small state had its own individual ruler. The East India Company occasionally asked to trade in the Indian states but other times wouldn't.
Around this time, the french managed their own individual East India Company. This created rivarly between them and the British . By 1700, it changed into a full on war and the armies were pulled into conflict.
Eventually, the British made an agreement that they would assist any Indian Ruler in trade and would defeat any ruler who blocked their trade.
