My theme for The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street is Fear and suspicion can be destructive. My first evidence is after Les Goodman's car starts up by itself the residents are suspicious of him and think he's the monster. They end up leading him up to his house and making him stay there because they were suspicious of him. This supports my theme because they make Les and his wife stay at their hosue because they had suspicion. My second evidence is that there was a shadowy figure in the distance and Tommy yells out it's the monster. Charlie gets so scared he shoots the shadowy figure and finds out he shot Pete Van Horn. This supports my theme because charilie was so full of fear it ended up being destructive because he killed Pete Van Horn. My third evidence is after Charlie shot Pete Van Horn the residents thought he was the monster and led him back to his home and threw rocks at his windows. Eventually one rock hit his head and he started to bleed. This also supports my theme because since Charilie had suspicon the residnets lead him back to his house it was destructive because Charlie windows broke and he started to bleed. In conclusion The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street has a theme that could be fear and suspicion can be destructive.
