Storyboard Text

  •  The Catholic priests were cheating people out of their money for indulgences, keeping the money, becoming priests in order to get an education and a higher rank, and not staying true to their vows of chastity. Martin Luther was not happy about that.
  • Martin Luther posted his beliefs on the door of the Church and told the people that what the Catholic Church was doing was wrong and unjust
  • This is what I see wrong with the Church.
  • 95 Theses By Martin Luther .Church Leaders are too wealthy! .Priests are unholy and wrong! .The people don't read Latin and can pray by themselves! .The Church is scamming the people with indulgences!
  • Martin Luther taught his beliefs to the people and convinced many of them. The invention of the printing press helped this immensely, his words and teachings soon became written and spread widely.
  • We do not need the Pope and priests. Follow me and together we can create a right and just religion that does not need theses false higher powers.
  • Wanted
  • The Pope For lying to the people and cheating them.
  • The growing mass of Lutherans scared and threatened the Catholic Church. They needed a way to either stop Martin Luther or bring the people back to the Catholic Church. The Council of Trent was called in 1545 to define the Churches teachings, regulate the corrupt parts and fix them, and regulate the priest trainings.
  • This Martin Luther is getting on my nerves! He is trying to convert our peoples, we must convince our people to stay with us!
  • I agree.
  • We need both good works and faith to receive salvation. Predestination is not true and people have free will. There are 7 sacraments, not 2. Christ is present in the bread and body at mass. The Pope is the leader of the Church and he is modeled after St. Peter The authority of the Church comes from scripture and tradition.
  • The Council of Trent set the beliefs and teachings of the Church and helped clarify the wrongdoings of priests and those of high power in the Church.
  • Indulgences are forbidden. People of power in the Church are not allowed to appoint friends or family a place of power. The celibacy of a priest is to be respected and strict. A parent is not allowed to force a child to be a priest. Stricter seminaries are to be ensured.
  • Martin Luther's testimonies against the Church inspired other people to break off from the Church and create their own versions of the Church. The breaks from the Church can be visualized like a tree: The trunk us the Catholic Church, and the branches are the different variations.
