Storyboard Text

  • Readers learn about Scout Finch and her family. She lives in a Maycomb, Alabama during the Great Depression of 1930s.
  • Climax
  • A black man is accused of raping a white woman. The rumors are heard around Scout's town, and the man is put up for trail. Scout's father, Atticus is his lawyer and is tasked to defend him and win, which will be hard to do considering the racist time period.
  • Falling Action
  • The Trial is on, and the whole town is there for it. as "evidence" against the black man comes in from different accounts, Atticus starts to question it. Through Atticus, the evidence starts to seem wrong and not valid. which would mean that the black man is innocent, but in this time period allowing a black person to win would be seen as bad.
  • Conclusion
  • In the end, despite the evidence being obviously incorrect. The black man is found guilty because of societies expectations, Scout and her brother are in disbelieve that they would allow such a thing to happen.
  • The black man dies trying to escape prison, and the male accuser who accused the black man starts to threaten Scout and her family and other characters.
  • The male accuser goes after Scout and Jem, Scout's neighbor comes to the rescue and kills the male accuser.
