The theme of this story revolves around how far people would go to protect the ones they love and how far they would go to get revenge for them. This story explains how far a young girl and her newfound love would go to reveal the truth about the mysteries surrounding her father's death.

Jo's Life seems perfect until tragedy strikes - Jo's father Charles Montfort is found dead in his office the scene of his death suggests that there was a misfire when Charles was cleaning his revolver and killed himself by accident. But the more Jo listens to the story the more she thinks that something was wrong, so she goes on an adventure to figure out the truth, this shows us how far Jo would go to reveal the truth of her father's death.“No. I meant to stay with me today. And tomorrow. And every day after.”
On her adventure Jo finds herself falling in love with one of her father's company's newspaper reporters. Together they find a clue about her father's death could be found in his grave so they decide to go to the graveyard to find out. On their way, Eddie tells Jo to stay behind because he thinks it would be dangerous and says he would go there alone. This shows how far Eddie would go to protect the woman he loves.“You, on the other hand, wish to know things. And no one can forgive a girl for that.”
When Jo and Eddie find out about the awful truth of her father's death was caused by her uncle, both of them are devastated by it and can't fathom it. They learn that several dirty lies were used to cover an even dirtier truth and are horrified. “The truth is usually inappropriate.”
Jo's Uncle is arrested by the New York Police even though they were bought by him thanks to Jo's and Eddie's hard work in getting solid evidence to who murdered her father and how and why. Jo's Engagement is dissolved and Jo and Eddie get married and live happily ever after.
