Peace was trying to be made between the two and it was decided that the United States would give up the demands to end impressment and Britian would leave Canada's borders alone in effort to create an Indian State in the Northwest. On December 24, 1814 the Treaty of Ghent was signed.
Not knowing that there was now peace between the two, British soldiers attacked the United States at New Orleans. Britian did lose, thanks to Andrew Jackson's army. Even though no one won the war, the Americans were left with the taste of victory.
For the Native Americans, the war showed a turning point in the losing struggle to govern themselves. For Americans, the war didn't mean too much, but it did end decades of fighting in the government and led to the "Era of Good Feeling". To Britian, the war wasn't as big of a deal.
