  • King Louis XVI: Life From the Beginning of the French Revolution to his Death
  • I am a nobleman of the First Estate.
  • I am a clergyman apart of the Second Estate
  • I am a commoner of the Third Estate
  • King Louis XVI and France had just come out of their participation in the American Revolution (1775–1783). Along with this period of revolution, the enlightenment had begun and the era for change began.
  • If King Louis won't let us participate in their meetings, we will make our own!
  • YES! Let's call ourselves "The National Assembly"!
  • Because of France's role in the 7 Years' War and the American Revolution, France was going into economic decline. King Louis XVI was spending half of his national budget to service the federal debt. The people of France began to struggle because the cost of food and the taxes increased.
  • Let's burn this place to the ground!
  • Because of the economic crisis, King Louis assembled the Three Estates of the French Government. The first estate was made of nobility, the second, clergy, and lastly, the third was made of the commoners.
  • After Louis XVI locked the Third Estate out a meeting, they left and formed The National Assembly.
  • On July 14, 1789, Louis' worst fear happened. The Storming of the Bastille took place, marking the beginning of the French Revolution.
