Roanoke colony. By: Leanna Beck
This storyboard does not have a description.
In May, 1587, Sir Walter Raleigh sends a group of 150 settlers of men, women, and children on Roanoke Island.
The settlers stayed there for three years before the rest of the English came back.
When the English came back, they found a deserted area with only 1 written clue; 'Croatoan'
What happened to the settlers?
Since the area where they lived suffered a major drought, they moved to live with other Native Americans for survival.
This is why some of the Native people had blue eyes and had some words in their vocabulary that sounded like English.
