Division of the Legislative Assembly
The center was made up by the moderates. They wanted some change, but not much.
It was divided into three sections - left, right, and center.
This is the Legislative Assembly.
The extreme left were called sans-culottes. They wore long pants and were led by Maximilian Robespierre.
The leftists, or radicals, believed the monarchy should be completely overthrown and replaced with a democracy.
On the opposite side were the conservatives, or rightists. They supported a limited monarchy, and liked things the way they were.
The emigres, however, wanted absolute monarchy back. They were mainly nobles who had escaped during the Great Fear.
