Storyboard Description

Robert La Salle tried several times to sail the Mississippi river before his success. Eventually, he reached the Gulf of Mexico. On his final mission, his crew mutinied against him.

Storyboard Text

  • In 1669, La Salle built a ship called Le Griffon, and sailed down the Mississippi River.
  • I WILL BUILD TRADING POSTS!!
  • Sadly, La Salle had to turn back after a storm destroyed his boat.
  • BYE!!
  • La Salle tried again in 1682, and managed to not demolish his ship.
  • I'll get them this time!
  • After his success, he went back to recruit more people!
  • I'm Ready Now!
  • Finally, La Salle was able to meet his goal, and spread Christian religion along the way!
  • We traded, and then tried to spread Christianity!
  • On La Salle's last mission, he claimed that he could take out several Spanish Towns, but he couldn't. The moral of this story is: DON'T GET COCKY
  • Robert La Salle was killed by his own men on a later expedition in 1684, but he will always be remembered as the first European explorers who sailed the Mississippi!
