Mitosis

Storyboard Text

  • Interphase
  • We are waiting for mitosis to begin.
  • Prophase
  • We have been cloned! It's just a chromatin day.
  • Metaphase
  • Which one is your wife?
  • A cell has two versions of each chromosome - one of each parent. This is called a diploid cell.
  • Anaphase
  • To prepare for cell division, each chromosome is copied.
  • Telophase
  • The chromosomes line up in the centre of the cell.
  • Cytokinesis
  • We look exactly the same! That is so creepy!
  • Two copies of each chromosomes are pulled apart by spindle fibre.
  • We are getting pulled apart by the spindle fibres!
  • The chromosomes move to different sides of the cell and the cell begins to split in two.
  • We are splitting!
  • The cell completely splits in two. There are now two cells, these are called daughter cells. Each cell is genetically identical to each other and to the original parent cell.
