One of the main characters in The most dangerous game is Rainford. Throughout the story he is very resourceful, intelligent, and at times ignorant.
Rainford was resourceful when he used a large tree for a bed. In the story Rainford even though he was being hunted he acted smartly because as the text says, "Rest brought him new confidence and almost a feeling of security." Not only was he resourceful he was also smart.
Rainford was extremely ignorant when General Zaroff was hinting at him at dinner that he hunts humans but Rainford didn't relies. One of Zaroff's hints was," So I said: 'What are the atributes of an ideal quarry. It must have courage, cunning, and, above all, it must be able to reason."
Towards the end of the story Rainford was extremely intelligent when he rigged up a trap that killed Ivan. Although Rainford's mind was as the text says, "His mind worked frantically." his plan worked.
Rainford showed that he was athletic when he swam all the way to the beach.
Rainford showed that he was brave when he came back to kill Zaroff.
