The Mayan Civilization started in the 6th century, and stretched across parts of present-day Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, and El-Salvador.
The Mayans created aqueducts. Aqueducts are important because the water can be used for the whole town, and for running water in the palace and other buildings.
The Mayans had a complex calendar with 365 days, this calendar is important because it is similar to the calendar that we use today with 365 days on it.
The Mayans created the only complete language made from glyphs in Mesoamerica. This is important because the Mayans have a full language to speak from.
There are many theories about how the Mayan civilization ended, here is four of them: 1. Warfare, 2. Disease, 3. Famine, and 4. Environmental Change.
I don't think Famine could have caused the Mayan civilization to collapse because they had lots of crops and different ways to farm them in different climates.
