The food is crushed and grounded by teeth. It allows a more efficient break down by enzymes. As the food is chewed, it is mixed with saliva, a digestive juice. The tongue then helps to mix the food and saliva together. After chewing, the food is swallowed.
With the muscular system, when the food is swallowed, it goes through the esophagus or the gullet into the stomach.
Inside the stomach, the food is mixed with gastric juice. This particular juice contains pepsin so it will start to breakdown the protein in the food
The intestines (small and large) absorb all the nutrients and transmits / delivers them to the cells
Any undigested or waste in our bodies (excrement) are made into feces and stored before being passed out through the anus
