Storyboard Text

  • The food is crushed and grounded by teeth. It allows a more efficient break down by enzymes. As the food is chewed, it is mixed with saliva, a digestive juice. The tongue then helps to mix the food and saliva together. After chewing, the food is swallowed.
  • With the muscular system, when the food is swallowed, it goes through the esophagus or the gullet into the stomach.
  • Inside the stomach, the food is mixed with gastric juice. This particular juice contains pepsin so it will start to breakdown the protein in the food
  • The intestines (small and large) absorb all the nutrients and transmits / delivers them to the cells
  • Any undigested or waste in our bodies (excrement) are made into feces and stored before being passed out through the anus
