Tom and Gatsby are arguing over daisy in a hotel in the city. After a while, things cool down, and Tom insists that Daisy rides home in "Mr.Gatsby's" car. The two head off in Gatsby's car, with Daisy driving, in attempt to calm her down.
George and Tom talk
After an argument with her husband George, Myrtle goes out into the street. There she spots a yellow car that seemed familiar to her. She attempts to flag down the car, thinking it was Tom who was driving. Instead, Myrtle is mowed down by the car, left dead.
Nick and Gatsby talk in the bushes
Coming in from the city, Tom, Nick, and Jordan stop to see what had happened. They see that Myrtle is dead on the road. When they saw her, they knew there was no need to check for a heart beat. While at the scene, they find out that Myrtle was hit by a familiar yellow car.
Tom and Daisy have dinner
Shortly after arriving at the crime scene, Tom goes over to talk to George. He remembers that George had seen him in a similar car earlier that day. Tom tells George that the yellow car belonged to Jay Gatsby, not him, but Gatsby's
After everyone leaves the crime scene, Nick and Jordan go to Tom's house. Nick decides not to stay, so he heads home with Jordan staying at Tom's house. As he heads out, waiting for his taxi, he meets Gatsby in the bushes, watching the house. Gatsby admits that it was Daisy driving, and that he was watching the house to see if Tom tries to hurt Daisy.
While Gatsby is outside on the watch, Tom and Daisy are inside having dinner. Tom is acting as if his mistress did not just die, and Daisy is acting like she just did not kill a woman. Both in their own world, with Gatsby worried outside; however not about the murder, but Daisy's reaction to it.
