The basic problems facing the Roman Empire were that majority of people had been excluded from playing an active role in their own government. Also, few people saw elections as important, so they stopped participating in elections this could have been because their ruler may have often ruled with a harsh hand.

As Rome grew larger, the amount of gold needed to maintain roads and perform routine maintenance was never enough. Then Rome could have grown so large that it could not take car or protect itself to the level that was needed.
The roman Emperors may have led to Rome's decline could be that every emperor was either assassinated or died. This can conclude that soon after many emperors died it could have gotten to the point were someone who was elected didn't know how to rule or what they were doing.
After Rome couldn't conquer anymore the amount of gold in coins went down and prices got higher. This shows that because the amount of gold decreased in coins, merchants put their prices up, making people lose money more often. This could have driven people out of Rome because items got expensive and supplies started to run out.
A number of young men in the military declined, leading Rome to recruit foreigners from the newly conquered territories to serve. The new military was also not loyal, which could have lead to another civilization conquering them. According to a map of Rome the Empire was attacked by most angels of where it is located. The map also shows that Rome could have also been outnumbered and loosing the fights between all the other civilizations.
After Christianity was introduced to Rome, people started to dedicate their lives to the religon that many top officials chose church life instead of lives dedicated to Rome. Because of this, people started to join Christianity and instead roads and many buildings being restored, money was spent on churches and monasteries.
