Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease where the body produces a thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs, airways, and the pancreas. This leads to many respiratory problems, lung infections, and pancreatic issues.
Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease caused by a mutation in the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance reactor gene or CTFR gene which codes for the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance reactor protein. The most common mutations that cause cystic fibrosis are stop mutations, gating mutations, and protein processing mutations.
Every day when I wake up, I have to do a few things that most people don't have to. First, I have to clear my airways by standing or laying in a position that drains the mucus from my airways.
Then, I take my medications, one helps clear the airways and my lungs, another is an antibiotic that kills bacteria that could cause lung infections. I also have to take many other medications such as, nasal sprays, anti inflammatory medications among others. I also have to take an inhaled antibiotics.
