In an effort to regain Othello's trust, Cassio sends musicians to play beneath Othello's window. Othello sends a clown to tell the musician to go away.
Desdemona asks Emilia where her handkerchief is. Othello walks in and asks her to lend him the handkerchief but Desdemona cannot provide that for him. So Othello tells her the meaning behind the handkerchief. Desdemona tells him that she has it but it's not with her, but Othello doesn't believe her and storms off.
