  • Mary is at home sitting on the sofa sewing, and waiting for her husband Patrick to come home. She is 6 months pregnant and she loves her husband very much. No matter what Patrick did she love him with all her heart. 
  • Falling Action 
  • When Patrick gets home he normally has a drink then he starts talking to Mary but he had a drink then got a second drink and gulped it down. Patrick told Mary something that made her feel nauseous. Mary goes to the kitchen to get some dinner for Patrick.  
  • Resolution 
  • After she goes to the kitchen to get some dinner she comes into the living room and hits him in the back of the head with a frozen lamb leg. Mary goes back into the kitchen and puts the lamb leg into the oven. Then she goes get ready to go to the market to get some vegetables.
  • Literary Element 
  • When she came back home to find her husband on the floor, she cried then called 911. Her alibi worked and they believed her story. Then she asked the police to eat the lamb. 
  • The police ate the lamb. As they were eating the lamb they were talking about what the muder weapon could be. They think the murder weapon could be a heavy metal object. But the cops don'[t know that they are eating the weapon and that Mary murdered her husband. 
  • Symbolism: The lamb represents innocents. In the beginning of the story Mary seems sweet and innocent. Then her husband breaks news to her that makes her mad and she kills her husband.
