  • African Americans were segregated from whites during 1950s-1960s. They were not allowed to eat at the same restaurant, drink from the same water fountain etc.

  • WHAT IS HAPPENING
  • Rosa Parks was Arrested on December 1st 1995 in Alabama for refusing to give up her seat to a white man. Her arrest resulted in a 13 month Montgomery buss boycott. The boycott then ended in December 1956 following a U.S Supreme court decision declaring Montgomery’s segregated seating unconstitutional. At that time Rosa parks lost her job. The protest was a great example of a non-violent protests to challenge racial segregation.
