In Paleolithic times, we used to hunt and gather food. We also moved place to place very often. Now in Neolithic times we grow crops and domesticate animals for our needs and also hardly ever move anywhere to get more food.
When we developed the job of trading, we had to travel hundreds of miles of tough terrain for days to even months to get to another village but, there's a benefit from traveling to village to village.
