  • Nicolas Copernicus
  • What if Ptolemy is wrong? What if everything revolves around the sun and not the Earth!?
  • Galileo Galilei
  • Isaac Newton
  • E=mc2 MOTION: * object will not move unless external force is applied * F=m x a *For every action there is an equal opposite reaction.
  • Force equals mass times acceleration...
  • Copernicus was born on February 19, 1473, and had three siblings. He graduated from the University of Cracow where he mastered math. Copernicus became a Polish astronomer who proved Ptolemy's Geocentric theory wrong and created the heliocentric theory that stated that the sun was at the center of the universe. Bacon also created the "quantity theory of money"
  • Francis Bacon
  • Galileo was born on February 15, 1564 and had five siblings. His father sent him to the University of Pisa to study medicine, but Galileo studied math instead. Galileo became an astronomer and became known for his discoveries such as the four moons circling Jupiter that he observed by inventing the telescope in 1609. Galileo had faced many conflicts because his reasoning went against the church and towards the end of his life he was put under arrest.
  • Church and Science
  • There really are moons around jupiter!
  • Isaac Newton was born on February 4, 1643. He had a rough start because his father passed away before he was born, but he did well in school and graduated from Trinity college. He is now by far the most well know scientist of the Scientific Revolution. He invented the first reflective telescope, created the three laws of gravity and motion, discovered the composition of light and proved that the world was round , not flat.
  • Impacts Of Scientific Revolution
  • Today's Agenda: The Scientific Revolution
  • Francis Bacon was born on January 22, 1561.He attended at Trinity college when he was twelve, then attended University of Cambridge and University of Poitiers. Francis Bacon is the most well known for creating the scientific method, but he was also a writer on a variety of subjects.
  • What is a way that people could prove their reasoning...
  • Conflict had arose between the church and new science because books being published about scientific theories went against the Bible, and people then started questioning it. The church could not tolerate this, so they told the scientist to reaffirm their teachings, or to face excommunication.
  • We will no longer tolerate anymore rubbish from these scientist! From now on, anyone who tries to challenge our teachings will face excommunication, or torture
  • You cannot do this! We are speaking science, not rubbish! The people must know the truth!
  • The scientific revolution impacts our society today because children at school are learning about these scientists' accomplishments and will use what they discovered to make new inventions and theories that they will support by using Bacon's scientific method.
