Tom and Dr Mobiuswere on a journey; following the Thames, heading East, passing the London Bridge and on to the Bermondsey. The two fellows were surrounded by beautiful scenery, however much preferred the shadows.
Arriving at the river, it was snowing and the river slowly had ice sloping over it. There was a single ship in the distance, sails like rags and a gaping hole in the side of the wooden ship. This ship was hired for Tom and Dr Mobius.
There were 7 men sitting in chairs on the ship or lying in hammocks. Mobius announced to the gentlemen, through the thick smoke on the ship, "This is our new boy!" Tom had never been on a boat before so was a little nervous to set off.
Tom announced that he couldn't read. This did not matter, as the fellows (Tom and Ferdinan) proceeded learning the lines about a man called Lucio, who arrived in the city of Venice and who dressed up like the devil and his boy.
Rehearsals started that afternoon, Tom playing the role of Antonio, relying on Florian to read his lines to him. Florian and Tom were having conversations and to her absolute surprise, Tom explained that this was his first ever play!
Everything was going swiftly, Tom learnt all of his lines, and had worked through all the scenes. The performance was near! Florian exclaimed to Tom that he should immediately leave this ship, as he was in terrible danger!
