  • Hello Suzane, you called me about something?
  • Yes, I did. I know you are a perfect candidate for giving a presentation the decision making to the staff. I want you to go over some important things before you present. 
  • Oh, thank you so much for considering me to present. I will tell you the things I am not feeling comfortable with,
  • That is absolutely fine. If you can tell me how many approaches are there to conflict resolution and explain them to me.
  • As far as I know, there are five of them which are collaborating, competing, compromising, accommodating, and avoiding. Am I correct?
  • Yes, You are absolutely correct. Let's go over it now. 
  • Collaborating is exchanging information and examining differences to reach win and win situation and competing is forcing acceptance of your position while ignoring the needs of other parties. 
  • yes, you are correct. Compromising is both parties giving and taking something to reach a mutually acceptable solution.
  • Accommodating is playing down the difference and emphasizing commonalities to satisfy the other party whole neglecting your own concerns. I am not sure about the last one. can you help me?
  • Sure, I can help you. Avoiding is withdrawing or sidestepping the issue by not addressing the conflict or the problem. 
  • That was easier than I expected! Thank you so much for going over these with me. I am really nervous. 
  • Oh common! don't be nervous. I know you will ace the presentation. See you in the meeting.
