  • Hello Sally, I just had a talk with the boss and she told me to work on staffing. Would you please help me?
  • Of course! I would help you. Tell me this. How many staffing processes are there?
  • As far as I can remember, there are seven staffing processes. Am I right?
  • You are absolutely correct! Can you list all seven, so I know you are aware of all the ones. 
  • So the seven processes are Planning for staff, designing jobs and staff, hiring staff, Training and developing staff, appraising performance, compensating staff, and protecting staff. 
  • You are correct. All seven of them are right and all seven are important. 
  • I remember the boss mentioning about planning for staff, there are two aspects of staffing. One is jobs and positions achieving the goals and mission.I am not sure about the other one. Do you remember?
  • Yes, the other one is programmes and policies that are needed for effective staffing. Don forget that achieving goals and mission require planning for staff and planning for programs and policies. 
  • I know that designing jobs and work what task and work should be done and how they should be grouped into jobs and positions, teams and work. 
  • You are forgetting that all these include work rules and schedules which means managers are responsible for fair rules and schedules, balancing the needs of HCO with needs of the employees.
  • Yes, correct. I completely forgot about that. I really appreciate you helping me. I will ace the presentation about staffing.
