Storyboard Text

  • The first line of defense in the body is much like a medieval castle!
  • The fortification of the castle itself is like our human skin. It serves as the barrier for foreign pathogens through sweat, and its acidity.
  • Moat
  • The moat of the castle reminds me of tears or mucosal membranes. They can wash away or trap any foreign invaders (both medieval and microscopic).
  • Falling victim to a trap door could be similar in the same way cilia in the respiratory tract or hair in the nose trap particles like dust.
  • Lions in a pit can dispose of an unwanted invader in the same way stomach acid can destroy pathogens.
  • Neutrophils can act like castle guards, hunting out extracellular pathogens and arresting (or engulfing them).
