  • Newton's First Law

  • The barbell represents balanced forces because it is not moving (in a state of inertia)
  • Newton's First Law
  • Now the barbell is moving because the unbalanced force (the weightlifter) acted on it to lift it up. It also has friction because the barbell wants to go down but you want it to go up.
  • Newton's Second Law
  • The weightlifter dropped the barbell which used gravity to drop to the ground quicker
  • Newton's Third Law
  • The dummy and the car are at rest (state of inertia) and will stay that way unless acted on by a force
  • The car is moving (even though it doesn't look like it) because of an unbalanced force that acted on it
  • The car hit the tires to stop,  it also had friction as it was moving because the road is not flat and not moving so it is pushing the same amount of force back onto the car
