  • I want Janie and Julia to be able to see that they both received the email so I will CC them. If I didn't want Janie to know that Julia could see the email then I would BCC Julia.
  • When responding to an email, use reply all when you want to respond to every person on the email thread. Use reply when you only want one single person to see your message.
  • Always make sure that everything about your email is appropriate.  Here are some examples of inappropriate emails
  • There are several things wrong with this email. It has spelling and grammar errors, the name of the recipient is informal and spelled wrong, and as a whole the email is unprofessional.
  • Der, sandie I wunt 2 have a meeting ab the new projecttttt tomorrow at 4 lmk if u cannn XoXo ur fav coworker
  • This email is inappropriate because of the tone used in it. It is very rude and the recipient will be offended. Never send an angry email. If you can't decide if it your email has a negative tone, take a break from it and look at it again later. 
  • Dear Ms. White, I trusted you with the essay part of the project, I shouldn't have. You didn't write about what I wanted you to, and you used an ugly font. Please redo the entire thing. Sincerely, Ms. Eastwood
  • Dear Mrs. Wright, I just need to confirm that we are meeting at noon tomorrow at Brio to discuss the new sales pitch. It is my favorite restaurant lately because I have a crush on the waiter. Which is really bad since I am married with four kids. But don't be surprised if  ditch you at the restaurant for him.
  • This email is an example of discussing inappropriate topics. You should keep emails concise and professional.
