  • In 1881 the right to share land was banned.
  • As the coffee plantations grew the plantations owners forced the farmers off their land.
  • But one year the price of coffee dropped and the rich decided not to harvest the coffee and not pay the poor people either. This selfish decision resulted in major protests which were crushed quickly.

  • After the protest military regimes were set up and many people died at the hands of soldiers for wanting basic rights
  • I want rights
  • Only rich families lived comfortably while the poor families were victim to poverty and military repressions.

  • El Salvador became corrupt and the people were oppressed by the military by murdering, beating and imprisoning them while the rich controlled the military through bribes
