The 1950's Sparked a new age of prosperity in America. Middle class families became more common across the country. Overcrowding of cities led to the creation of suburbs, Housing complexes outside the city.
However America still had civil rights problems. While the White majority had the taste of America's new golden age, minority groups mainly African Americans ere separated from the good life by segregation laws
Blacks could not live in the same housing complexes, eat at the same restaurants, or go to the same schools as whites could. They were left with poorly maintained and poorly funded facilities. Schools also suffered from this leave few African Americans in white collar jobs.
