You have probably seen this type of shoe a lot. The materialused to stick the straps together are called Velcro. The inventor of Velcro is Georgede Mestral. This is how he invented it.
Look at us boy, we're all covered in burs. They always stick on the darn things... I wonder how...
Interesting... look at all these hooks and loops...
It shall have miniature hooks on one side and miniature loops on the other so that they will attach onto each other and become hard to undo. It will be rough due to the loops and hooks and also will make a super loud sound when coming undone.
I shall call it VELCRO from the French words for velvet "velour", and hook, "crochet". VEL from velour and CRO from crotchet.
Velcro is now used to strap items on walls, used for shoe straps, fastening things together and so many other ways in our day to day lives.
