Princess Eda was unlike other princesses. She hated dresses and spent most of her time playing with horses and riding them. Her mother, the queen, thought this was improper for a young princess to do that so she had to do it in secret.
But, one day the queen found out. Eda was sent to her bedroom and was lectured on 'how to be a proper lady'. Also, she had to promise never to go to the palace stables ever again.
Eda could not live like this. She took her favourite horse, Coco, and left the castle.
For a couple of days Eda travelled and ate some of the food she had packed every day. She found a little farmhouse that the owners were willing to lease to her for a short time, and lived the next few months of her life in harmony.
