  • Following Sabinus' lead, our men leave the camp after being warned about a incoming German attack...
  • Suddenly, the Gauls, led by Ambiorix, ambush our men in a narrow valley.
  • Our men fought bravely, however, with the Gauls advantage of the ambush, surrounded, many Romans died to the hands of the barbarians.
  • Even Q. Lucanius, a very brave and great fighter, upon seeing his son struggling and going to his aid, died.
  • L. Petrosidius, the standard bearer, threw the eagle with the camp, and having been overpowered is killed having fought with the greatest courage.
  • Where as Sabinus, having approached Ambiorix to discuss a surrender, is surrounded and killed.
  • Cotta, fighting besides the soldiers, is slain with a larger amount of them. The remaining return to the camp which they had left.
  • Ambiorix spreads word of his victory and urges other tribes to do the same. The Nervii warn Cicero, just as Ambiorix had done.
  • The Germans have advanced and Sabinus is dead, but do not worry we will let you leave quarters safely
  • Romans do not accept conditions of armed enemies. Yield and send the request to Caesar.
  • Failing to trick him, the Nervii attack Cicero's camp.
  • The battle and fighting was fierce and raged on for 7 days. Even the rival centurions, Pullo and Vorenus, defend each other as fellow soldiers in the others moment of peril. 
  • Get up Vorenus! I will defend you!
