Romulus and Remus were twin brothers and had a dad Mars who was the god of war and a mother name Rhea Silvia who was a vestal virgin.
Rhea Silvia's father (Numitor) was overruled by his brother Ammulius.
When the boys were born Ammulius threw them in the timber river hoping they would drown.
The boys were soon rescued by a wolf that cared for them. Later they were found by the shepherd Faustulus who raised them until they older.
The two young men discovered who they really were and decided to kill Amulius and put their grandfather back on the throne. After they decided to build a city of their own but could not agree where to build it. So each began to build his own city enclosed with walls.
One day, Remus visited Romulus and made fun of his wall by jumping over it and saying how easily it could be breached. Romulus then killed his brother and said that he would kill anyone who mocked or broke the walls of Rome. He was declared the first king of Rome and died in war. He was carried up to the heavens by his father and was worshiped as the God Quirinus.
