- P. starts hipnotizing Valdemar with 3 witneseses and alters his technique every 15 minutes
- P. was able to mesmerize Valdemar and keep him alive and was also able to communicate with him
- the doctor is surprised that Valdemar is still alives but says that he should ne put to rest in his state
- valdemar is no longer alive and his mouth and eyes open to form a hideous view
- Everyone flees the room and P. can no longer control Valdemar with mesmerizing
- They kept Valdemar in that state for seven months until P. came to talk to him and Valdemar asked for death until he dissolved into a rotting mass
