  • Battle of Somme was a battle which had all France, United Kingdom, India, Canada, and Australia. battle became known as one of the largest battles of WW1. Fought between July 1 all the way to November 1 near Somme river in France. In one day, the British suffered more than 57 thousand casualties. By the end of the campaign, allies and central powers lost more than 1.5 million men.
  • Battle of Ypres
  • Here is where the German General, Erich von Falkenhayn's elicted a major bloodshed from french defense of the fortress complex of verdun. While forces claimed fort Douaumont and fort Vaux after subterranean melees. In July Germans called off their offensive and French forces pushed back the line, by December, there were around 600,000 casualties.
  • Battle of Mons
  • An allied victory that helped bring a war to WW1. On august 1918 with 75,000 men, 500 tanks and 2,000 planes, followed the second battle of Marne. Their offensive achieved huge gains, allied troops and tanks advanced eight miles and caused 27,000 casualties. German resistance stiffened, and fighting was over within a few days, battle convinced many in German high command that victory was unattainable.
  • Battle of Caporetto
  • Battle of Ypres took place in the general area of the Belgian city, Ypres. Germany and the allied cities clashed. Hundreds of casualties occured. Battle of Ypres was divided into 5 differend battles. First battle of Ypres, Second battle of Ypres, Battle of Passchendaele,Battle of lys, and the Fifth battle of Ypres. Each battle having around 80,000 casualties.
  • Major action of British Expeditionary force. It was a subsidiary action of Battle of Frontiers, where allies clashed with Germany at french borders. British army attempted to hold the line of mons. British were forced to retreat due to greater stregnth of the Germans.
  • Battle took place from October 24 to November 19, 1917 on Austro-Italian front of WW1. Austro-Hungary and German forces joined for one og their greatest victories of WW1. By mid November, germans and austri-hungarians had driven Italians back 60 miles to River Paive. Caporetto totalled almost 700,000. 40,000 were wounded or killed, 280,000 captured, and around 350,000 were deserted.
