Rainsford and Whitney are sitting on a boat that is making its way to Rio . Observing the mysterious island off in the distant. Of which they hear a gun shot from. Whitney and Rainsford have a conversation about Rather animals can feel pain or not. Whitney turns in for the night without Rainsford. Rainsford instead stays outside and smokes another pipe.
Rainsford Drops his pipe then, while reaching for it falls off the boat. He tried to yell out. but it was no use the yhct had already disappeared in to the night. He remembered the island and the gunshot and decided to make his way over there.

Rainsford got to the island. He saw a palatial chateau off in the distant and made his way over there the man who owned in was named General Zaroff. Rainsford was given clothes, food, and a place to stay. He learned that General Zaroff was a Hunter himself, and that he had recognized Rainsford from his book.
But Over time General Zaroff grew bored with how easy hunting was becoming. He decided to hunt a more intelligent species of game. Rainsford soon caught on General Zaroff Hunted people. But not only people he wanted to fight Rainsford. If Rainsford won he would be sent to the nearest land off the island, but if he lost...
He was given a sack of food, hunting clothes, and a hunting knife and as sent off into the wilderness. He set various traps such as a Malay mancatcher, and a Burmese tiger pit. None of them ending in fatality for General Zaroff. Then General zaroff went and got his pack of hounds, Rainsfords only choice was to flee. So he ran until he eventually ran into the shore line and had no choice but to jump out as far as he could into water in hopes for the best.
General Zaroff went back to the palatial chateau to have a delicious dinner. After dinner he was deliciously tired and headed up to his room. As General Zaroff flicked on the lights he saw Rainsford standing there. General Zaroff tried to congratulate Rainsford on his winning but instead Rainsford was ready to end this fight once and for all. And so he did.
