Mateo got tired of looking at what his family was doing. He asked his dad Rafael to bring out his kite so he could play with it. When he starts running with it he realizes that 200 ft of string are out. The angle of the string with the ground is 41.5 ft. Mateo wants to know how high his kite is above the ground so he decides to use a trig function which would be 200*sin(41.5)=132.5 which means his kite is almost 133 ft above the ground.
Rafael, Rogelio, and Alba want to separate alcoholic drinks from the kids drinks. There is 20-foot pole leaning against the wall that reaches a point 18 ft above the ground. They want to put the alcoholic drinks under the pole so that the kids would know that’s not appropriate for them to drink but they want to see if the drinks would fit and so they decide to use a trig function to find out the angle which the pole makes with the ground which would be sin-1(18/20)=64 which means that the drinks would fit.
Petra and Anezka wanted to get a cooler so that the drinks could be cold. She wants to know the area of the cooler with a radius of 8√2 which would be 8√2=8+8=16 and then 8*4=32 and finally (½)(8)(32)=128 sq. ft which means the area of the cooler is 128 sq. ft and the drinks do fit.
