Now, Shall We leave this dreaded place? No? well then bye
In the climax, Fortunado and Montressor are walking down to the Amontillado holding room, and Fortunado has a bad cough. Montressor insists that they stay safe and go back, but Fortunado insists to go further forward. They reach the room and Montressor chains Fortunado to the wall, and starts putting bricks up in the entrance.
revenge is not a good way to solve an issue
In the falling action, Fortunado realizes that he is being buried alive, and starts screaming at the top of his lungs. Montressor matches his screams in pitch and volume.
In the Exposition, the drunken state of Fortunado is finally wearing off, and he thinks that it is a funny joke. Montressor sarcastically implores him to go back up, and then finishes the final tier of the wall. He throws his torch into the hole, and then puts the last brick in.
The theme of this story is clearly about revenge.
