On the night Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane, the soldiers took Him to Calvary, and nailed his hands and feet to his cross that he had to carry all the way to Calvary. They also nailed a sign that said INRI- the Jewish word for "The King".
The Holy Spirit
Mary MacKillop and Mary Magellan visited Jesus' tomb, and discovered that the tomb was open! While they were wondering what had happened, a angel, Gabriel appeared and told the two women that Jesus was not here, for he had risen!
This is what Jesus did...
Jesus came to the disciples and after 40 days of being with them, Jesus told the believers that he would be ascending into Heaven to be with his father. He also promised that he would give them a great gift very soon.
Baptising of the 3000
Every day after Jesus had left, the disciples gathered in the top room of the inn they were staying in and prayed, waiting for the gift that he had promised. After ten days, a mighty gust of wind from Heaven swept down onto them and when they looked up, they found that tongues of fire were resting apon their heads! This was the gift he had promised. The Holy Spirit!
The Holy Spirit gave the disciples the power to speak in many different languages. This way they could tell everyone about what Jesus had done. When the crowd started to tell the disciples that they were wrong and that they were drunk, Peter got up and addressed the crowd of what Jesus had done.
After Peter had preached the crowd, everyone wanted to be a part of Jesus' people and get baptised. Over 3000 people were baptised on that very day. This is also known as the birth of the Catholic church.
