  • Plants need carbon to live and their main sources of carbon are through photosynthesis and cellular respiration

  • Plants can also get carbon from the sun which they turn into energy. This process is called Photosynthesis.

  • But when a plant dies; decomposers like mushrooms come in and break down the plant and release nutrients back into the soil.

  • When humans breathe out they breathe out carbon dioxide which is used by plants for energy. This is called Cellular Respiration, which is converting a set of metabolic reactions to energy
  • Over time the carbon that is released into the soil becomes fossil fuels like Oil and Coal that are usable by humans.
  • Photosynthesis is the process by plants to convert light energy to chemical energy that can be uesd by the plant
  • When those fossil fuel are burned carbon is released back into the atmosphere. That carbon is mixed with oxygen and becomes carbon dioxide
  • When that matter is broken down carbon from the plant is released into the air and into the soil
  •
  • Fossil Fuels are fuels formed by natural processes of dead organisms containing energy.
  • That carbon dioxide is used by plants for photosynthesis and the Carbon cycle restarts.
