  • The Convention must be kept a secret!
  • We Northern States feel that slaves should be counted as property and not people.
  • I propose we count slaves as 3/5th of a person but still count them as people.
  • We Southern states feel that slaves should be counted as people and not property.
  • We propose the Virginia Plan which will give more representatives to states with larger a population
  • The delegates meet in the summer of 1787 in Philadelphia to participate in the Constitutional Convention. The convention was held to discuss how much power the government and the states should have.
  • I propose The Great Compromise which will have 2 legislative houses. One house will have 2 senators for each state, and the other will have representatives based on population.
  • We propose the New Jersey Plan which will give each state one vote no matter their population.
  • George Washington watches over the Convention and tells the delegates that the Convention must be kept a secret.
  • I believe that we should not have a powerful central government because it could give them to much power .
  • I believe we should have a more powerful central government because states have to much power.
  • The Northern and Southern are trying to decide how slaves should be counted and James Madison proposes the 3/5th Compromise, and all but 2 delegates agree.
  • The smaller states suggest the New Jersey plan while the bigger states suggested the Virginia plan, but Roger Sherman suggested a new idea which was later called the Great Compromise.
  • One Anti-Federalist and one Federalist speak out about their beliefs to people who have not taken a side.
  • While all of this was happening the summer in Philadelphia was extremely hot and many delegates were sweating.
