  • The French Revolution 1789-1799
  • The workers were the poorest out of all the social groups in France. They were paid low wages and frequently went jobless and hungry. Even though they were poor, more than half of their incomes were used to pay taxes.
  • This is absurd! why should the peasants who have nothing have to pay such high taxes to the nobles and kings!!!
  • IM SO HUNGRY!!! I dream of eating bread
  • Setting the Stage
  • Hmmm, what lavish clothes can I wear today?
  • Frances government sank deeply into debt due to the extravagant spending of king Louis and the queen Marie. Louis borrowed heavily to continually fund the war, which nearly doubled the governments debt.
  • Prepare a feast. I want enough to feed 800 people!
  • Tired of being treated unfairly, thousands of women marched to versailles and demanded that the National Assembly take action. they then broke into the palace and demand that the king and queen return to Paris. Their exit signaled a change in power
  • Robespierre governed France virtually as a dictator, and the period of his rule became known as the reign of terror. Perhaps as many as 40,000 were executed during the Terror. anyone could be killed for the smallest crimes
  • Tired of all the death, Robespierre.was arrested and executed. towards the end of the French Revolution, Napolean Bonaparte a French military and political leader came into power. During his rule he ended feudalism and created new laws which brought more freedom to the people. During his reign he also won many wars which led to France controlling many of Europe.
  • I am France's hero
